Hello Students and Parents
This class follows the premise that it is usually best for one to think before one speaks and to read before one thinks. Students who immerse themselves in the class throughout the school year will hone their abilities to read, write, and think critically and with intention. The reading will focus on students’ ability to understand a work’s complexity, to absorb its richness of meaning, and to analyze how that meaning is embodied in literary form, while the writing will focus on students’ ability to explain clearly, cogently, even elegantly, what students understand about literary works and why they interpret them as they do.
As is always the case, I am excited to begin a new school year. The opportunity to facilitate AP and Honors English classes is thrilling. I have a B.A. in English, a B.S. in English Education, a Masters in English Education, and a Specialist in Media and Technology.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have throughout the year.
Ms. Naomi Schapley
